23-year old righty swinging catcher J.P. Arencibia was the #2 rated prospect in the Blue Jays’ minor league system coming into this season according to Baseball America. He played in 116 games in AAA-ball this season and he was 110 for 466 (.236 avg, .728 OPS) with 67 runs scored, 21 homers and 75 RBIs. He needs to improve his plate discipline to get to the majors as he only walked 26 times last season while whiffing 114 times. If the Blue Jays decide to let Rod Barajas walk after this season Arencibia could get a shot to win the starting job at catcher next spring.

Santos pitched in 45 games (0 starts) between AA+AAA ball this season and he was 4-3 with 2 saves, a 4.89 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP. The Blue Jays must feel that you can never have too many lefty relievers as Santos will have a hard time making the team next spring.
